Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival Friday, April 16, 2010

Ebbetts Pass Forest Watch is proud to be the local host of the Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival on Tour for the sixth consecutive year with an exciting new program of environmental and adventure films that illustrate the Earth’s beauty, the challenges facing our planet, and the work communities are doing to protect the environment. EPFW promotes responsible, sustainable timber harvest practices through public education, legal action, and coordination with other conservation groups. The festival is organized by the South Yuba River Citizens League, one of the nation’s most successful grassroots activist groups.

WATER MONITORING
EPFW assists the Upper Mokelumne River Watershed Council with monitoring of water quality on the Tuolumne River Watershed.

The Upper Mokelumne River Watershed Council was originally formed with a state Proposition 204 grant in the spring of 2000. The council originally met on an intermittent basis. Since May of 2003, the group has refocused its efforts on water quality, watershed planning, watershed assessment/restoration, and public outreach and education on the Upper Mokelumne River, Dry Creek, and Upper Calaveras River watersheds. The council meets on a monthly basis. The mission of the council is: To establish a collaborative decision-making body and a forum composed of all parties with a vested interest, including local residents, agricultural, timber and other commercial entities, recreational users, and public agencies. We shall work to restore and maintain the Upper Mokelumne River watershed in a manner that ensures sustainable environmental, economic, educational, cultural, recreational, and water quality benefits for present and future generations.
